Re: The best TVPs album
IMO if someone were to put the four early 90s EPs (She's Never Read My Poems/Strangely Beautiful/We Will Be Your Gurus/Far Away & Lost in Joy) together as an album it would be the best TVPs album by quite a long way. Speaking of.. wasn't Fire planning to do this at one point? I wonder what happened...

I agree about Mummy but I think the band lets Dan down on the first couple of albums - none of them ever seemed entirely comfortable with the material - kind of the same problem Big Star had. I actually think the Top Gear version of 'Magnificent Dreams' has a good claim to the title of Dan's best tr...

The best TVPs album
Which was your favourite TVPs album, and why? As regards the compliations & live albums, I've included the ones which are different enough to be essentially new albums, but not pure best-of's like Part Time Punks . Although I've not included it as an option, IMO if someone were to put the four early...

Daniel Johnston
The weekend of 13-14 April is shaping up to be something of a revival of the alternative 80s, with Amelia Fletcher on the 13th in Brixton (see my other post) and the other seriously messed up Daniel, Johnston, playing the Barbican Centre on the 14th — all we need now is the Bevis Frond and Alex Chil...

Have done as you suggested and posted to yousendit - the link is here . It will time out after seven days or 'a limited number' of downloads; if there are still a number of people waiting for it I'll resend it (unless Keg can pester whoever hosts the site to post it?) Because I've pushed the MP3 com...

One criticism I'd make is that we don't hear enough of Victoria Yeulet's voice. She should have been given at least one track to really show off, in my opinion. But give the people what they want - people buy TVPs albums expecting to hear Dan. Especially so given that whoever's handling the PR for ...

One of my great conversation-stoppers in the (admittedly ever shrinking) circle of people who'd be impressed by it, is that I seem to be just about the only person who saw both Heavenly & the Soft Boys live. If you (or anyone) wants the ideal christmas present for pre-Britpop indie fans, you can buy...

TVPs 21/6/96
I've got the TVPs gig at the Dublin Castle, 21/6/96, as an MP3 if anyone wants it. Be aware that it's only really of interest as a historical document, as the last TVPs gig until the 2004 'reunion'; by this time Jowe had left, and Dan was really in no fit state (it was a contractual-obligation gig t...
