Re: Television Personalities on BBC6

Speaking of airplay on 6 Music, earlier this evening Stuart Maconie played "How Does It Feel To Be Loved" from the new LP on his Freakzone.

The Jasmine Minks

I saw the Jasmine Minks last night at the New Continental in Preston. I was amazed to find that Dave Musker is playing with them again. I managed to have a chat with him after the gig and introduced myself. Really good set from the Minks too. The Jazz Butcher Quarter supported and were ace! Lounge j...

Well, it took me a bit longer than I expected, but the news is now splashed all over the front page.

I've also made it into an "announcement" so it's at the top of the forum.

Re: Swell Maps & John Peel

I discovered this evening that Jowe wrote a blog post about the early days of Swell Maps on his own website, back in September 2012. Worth a read.

Swell Maps & John Peel

I recently asked Jowe about the involvement of the DJ John Peel in the history of Swell Maps. I've added his memories to the main site and you can read it here: http://www.televisionpersonalities.co.uk/jowe/peel.htm I've also added a couple of Youtube interviews to that page that I stumbled across i...

You've got one copy more than I have. I was promised a free one from the publisher but it never materialised.

Re: Bands doing TVP covers

I've just stumbled across the fact that Simon Bish & Andy Fonda released an EP of TVP covers back in 2010. Here's their version of "The Silly Things Lovers Do", recorded in poptastic fashion:

Re: Love & Truth

I seem to have developed a bit of an obsession with "Ours Is A Wonderlove World" from "Pure" this week, especially the bit from 4 minutes onwards (the "God is love" bit). I think I've got a crush on the girl singer. :D

Love & Truth

For reasons I can't explain, I've only just heard The Times' "Love & Truth", which was issued as a B-side of the "Manchester" single back in 1989 / 1990. Wow! It's one of the best New Order pastiches I've heard.

Sad But True (mid range) I got a copy off ebay many years ago. I've not listened to it in a while but I seem to remember thinking that it was just ok. Why Do I Need a Gun I'm Chelsea (seems reasonable on ebay) As you probably know, it's a compilation of singles and b-sides from the "Catholic Guilt"...
